The 2006 movie The Holiday featured a novel new travel idea. Two young women looking to escape for the holiday season go online and arrange to “swap” homes for a couple of weeks.

If you watched the movie back then, you may have thought that letting a perfect stranger vacation in your home was unusual. But fast track to 2019, and the entire travel landscape has changed. Now AirBNB has 4 million vacation home listings worldwide.

So, as the travel landscape evolves, CAA Travel Insurance is changing too, with the addition of two new features to our existing product suite.

Insure Your Vacation Rental Accommodation, Like You Would a Hotel Room

It’s not just for people in the movies anymore.

If you rent a home for your vacation, did you know that your rental cost is covered if you have to cancel your trip?

When you book through an alternative booking platform like AirBNB, HomeAway or Trip Advisor Rentals, you get the same protection through your travel insurance as you would at a hotel.

Just make sure you book through an approved online booking platform (rather than booking directly with the homeowner, for example).

You Don’t Even Have to Leave Your Room to See a Doctor

Who wants to sit in a clinic waiting to see a doctor when you’re on vacation? If you’re away on business, you might not even be able to get to a doctor. Combine that with language difficulties, and it can be very stressful, even if it’s a minor medical issue.

Now, when you call CAA Assistance, you may have the option, depending on your condition, of using telemedicine or house call services at your travel location. Of course, if you prefer, you still have the option of going to a clinic or emergency room.

Telemedicine connects you to a doctor, live via a video consult. House Call Service sends a physician right to your hotel room or vacation property.

Either way, there’s no struggle to find a doctor who speaks your language or time wasted in a clinic waiting room. Plus, there’s no extra cost for the convenience.
