Toronto audiences are lucky to enjoy an extraordinary variety of live BALLET BC dance options. Not only do our talented local dance companies offer a wide variety of performances for dance-loving audiences but internationally-renowned companies regularly tour to Toronto’s major stages.

Local choreographers from diverse cultural backgrounds continue to experiment and develop and for artists and audiences alike, the future of dance as an audience member promises to be dynamic and exciting.

As an audience member, you may feel like you don’t understand what you are watching sometimes. The key is not to pressure yourself. The truth is, you really can relax. There is no right or wrong interpretation. Whether or not a dance performance suits your particular tastes, if you are open to the experience, you will get something out of it.

Also, seek out opportunities to educate yourself. At Civic Theatres Toronto we have many unique opportunities to attend engaging and informative pre-show or post-show talks or demonstrations by experts. You can uncover a new and informed insider’s perspective on what you are about to see.

Discover Dance, a free, all-ages, lunch hour series, introduces you to some of Toronto’s incredible dance artists. Hosted by the award-winning choreographer Nova Bhattacharya, Discover Dance is an hour packed with dance and conversation. You will have the opportunity to see dance and share your thoughts; to hear stories and ask questions; and to discover how dance forms from near and far are being woven in Toronto’s cultural scene.

You can then take that knowledge and book your tickets for another exciting night of dance. Some local shows to consider:
