The ultimate Rocky Mountain Lodge experience
Surrounded by the natural beauty of Jasper National Park, Canada’s most renowned golf architect, Stanley Thompson was given a blank canvas to create a truly magnificent course. Over 90 years later, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club still impresses.
It can be argued that the true mark of Stanley’s genius here at Jasper is reflected in the fact that even today, with completely different modern golf clubs, this course still offers a great test to golfers of all abilities. You can marvel in the ability to run the ball up onto the green as was the old style, or fly the ball to the hole and be challenged just as much by the subtleties of the green surfaces. Avid golfers of all abilities can enjoy the course their own way, much as those who contested the Canadian Amateur Championship in 1929 would have experienced.
The most memorable part of the course and design is how Stanley chose the natural backdrops, available only here in the Rocky Mountains, to serve as the canvas to design each hole around. The view from the second tee, with Roche Bonhomme, more commonly called Old Man Mountain is not something that anyone could create without the natural backdrop. The 9th, 11th and 18th holes all show off unique views of Pyramid Mountain that can only be seen in Jasper by playing the course. The 14th Hole, played across the glacier fed, emerald green waters of Lac Beauvert is a golf hole that should be on every golfer’s bucket list. Dramatic and challenging, framed by Lac Beauvert on one side, centuries old Douglas Firs on the other with Pyramid Mountain towering in the background, this hole is one of Stanley’s signatures on the property.
Although a proud feature of the property, the Course itself is an integral part of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. The sprawling nature of the course is reflected in the remaining 700 acres that make up the entire Lodge. With over 80 Buildings, 6 Signature Cabins, 4 Food and Beverage outlets, an exceptional spa and shopping area, the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge offers something that you cannot find in many places on earth. The grounds of the Lodge offer endless spots to take in the views, getaway and enjoy the natural surroundings at whatever pace you would like. A trip to the Lodge offers a true escape from the hectic pace of life. You can be completely away from everything while here, surrounded by nature, pampered with service and experiences that will refresh and energize you before you leave us.
