Pack your bags, hop in the car and make the road trip to Lansing in the heart of Michigan. Home to over 60 festivals throughout the year, it’s no wonder Lansing is known as Michigan’s festival capital. This Spring find Mighty Uke Day 9, the largest ukulele festival in the Midwest, the East Lansing Art Festival and the adjacent MSU Arts and Crafts Show among others. Spring also ushers in some minor league baseball (the Lansing Lugnuts ARE a Toronto Blue Jays affiliate) and even some professional soccer with the newly-formed USL League One team-Lansing Ignite, both playing at Cooley Law School Stadium in the heart of downtown Lansing.
While here, take advantage of Lansing’s walkable downtown and visit five awesome attractions within a five block radius. Take a tour of the State Capitol Building, the Michigan History Center, the R.E. Olds Transportation Museum and discover the fun side of science at Impression 5 Science Center. And if you still have time and energy, take in the 15-mile-long Lansing River Trail for a stroll, a bike ride or rent a kayak for an urban downtown paddle.
Whether it’s a vibrant festival, delightful patio dining, a little boutique shopping in Old Town, or the terrific golf options that bring you to Greater Lansing, you’re sure to be delighted with your road trip to Michigan’s capital region.
